Fun in Georgia

Good morning! ¬†The weeks halfway over ūüôā ¬†Today I wanted to share some of the fun things we did in Georgia from our last visit. ¬†The day we went to Six Flags we kept it a surprise from the kids. ¬†Basically, I’ve learned over the past 4 years that you don’t tell kids anything in advance ūüėČ ¬†It always works in my favor.

Once we arrived at the park and the kids saw the roller coasters, the excitement level was through the roof!  They wanted to ride them all.  Luckily for them, we planned to stay the whole day so they could ride and have fun.

The first ride we went on was a roller coaster (of course) and it was Xander’s only coaster ride. ¬†He didn’t like it ūüôĀ ¬†Everyone else loved it.

I saw Tweety and had to get a picture with him ūüėČ ¬†Growing up I loved Tweety Bird and still have a blanket I bought when I was in the 9th grade with him on it.

We coasted through the haunted house

Some of us liked it. ¬†One, not so much ūüėČ

Sterling loved having Auntie Renee for a few days. ¬†She referred to her as her “buddy.” ¬†Their bond was adorable, but someone was not thrilled.

Every year I try to get Sterling to ride this ride and this was her year.  As she was up high, she saw something else she wanted to ride.

Renee and Jayla rode some of the bigger roller coasters.  While they were doing their thing, we found stuff for the younger two.  Driving these cars were hilarious.  Sterling and I rode together and she was going CrAzY!  She did not like driving, ha!

We had a full day of school shopping. ¬†I didn’t plan to buy a whole lot because living in VA, they’ll still be wearing summer clothes until November. ¬†They have plenty! ¬†But, there were some good sales on long sleeves and jeans. ¬†I couldn’t pass them up especially¬†since we will be needing them. ¬†They also picked out new shoes. ¬†No wearing flip flops to school ūüôĀ

Afterward, Renee and I had pedicures done.  It was bliss!

Jayla and Sterling had haircuts.  While they were getting their hair done, Xander sliced his toe on the store door.  It looked like a murder scene in there.  Blood everywhere.

On our way back home we made a stop to visit our friends.  It was so good to catch up.  A good friend is someone you can pick up right where you left off.  As if you never left.  Living so far from friends can be hard.  But we make it work.

These three also picked up where they left off.  Such sweet friends!

Another fun visit is in the books ūüôā

Put a smile on your face and spread some positivity today ūüôā

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! ¬†We’ve had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend. ¬†We’ll be visiting with my parents and sister. ¬†I’m excited to see my sister! ¬†It’s been too long.

I’m linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for this week’s favorites.

I’m still drooling over these delicious¬†muffins

I sorted Lego’s over the weekend and ended up putting 10 sets together. ¬†I should just buy some for myself. ¬†It’s so relaxing. ¬†I could do it all day. ¬†It’s my favorite ūüôā ¬†Right now I placed colors in separate baggies. ¬†I still need to figure out a solution for Lego organization.

Xander’s so excited that he has a new tooth coming in. ¬†I’m a little worried because it’s coming behind his other teeth, but it’s his favorite to move his tongue over it.

We had so much fun at a friends kids birthday party.  The kids loved playing and running around.

Finding staged dolls was a favorite.  Thanks, Nick!

PIctures next to waterfalls are always a favorite. ¬†I could sit next to a waterfall all day. ¬†It’s so peaceful.

We went swimming at Nana’s pool. ¬†Her pool is our favorite! ¬†It’s never crowded ūüôā

Xander’s been wanting me to make him a cage out of his Zoob blocks at home for his wrestling ring. ¬†I can’t figure it out though. ¬†I figured it out with Nana’s petals. ¬†It’s his favorite and wishes he could bring them home.

Have a great weekend!

Book Activities: Dragons Love Tacos

Good morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  We went to a birthday party and had the best time.  Built a bunch of lego sets.  Worked on laundry.  Cleaned the office, finally.  And made some really delightful muffins.

We love reading in our house. ¬†I’ve seen ideas around Pinterest on doing “book clubs.” ¬†The idea to add fun crafts along with the book would be fun for the kids. ¬†They loved it!

I didn’t plan to do Dragons Love Tacos as our first book activity. ¬†I shifted our schedule around since we were out of town for a week. ¬†It worked out and was a huge hit. ¬†We stopped at Taco Bell on the way back from errands. ¬†Little did the kids know my reasoning.

After lunch, we read the book and got busy making crafts

Making the masks was a favorite

We, of course, had to make the fire breathing dragon.

Next up was a taco for the dragon and a taco for themselves

Making sure her taco isn’t too spicy for the dragon.

Sterling made herself a cheesy “roll-up”

The dragons eating their tacos

Oh no, they were too spicy. ¬†There’s fire all over the place!

This is where Xander finally picked up that I planned all this and the fire breathing dragons were because they made their tacos a little too spicy. ¬†ūüôā

Jayla made our tacos that night.  She did a great job!

Three fire-breathing dragons scared the bejeebus¬†out of Nick ūüėČ

Have you done something like this? ¬†If you haven’t tried doing book activities with your kids, you should. ¬†I think they’ll love it! ¬†We loved it so much that we’re going to do another book.

Atlanta Trip

Good morning!  Sorry for the unannounced hiatus here on the blog last week.  The kids and I were in Atlanta visiting my parents and we kept busy (after the rain stopped).  I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to this week.

Today, Nick is off work as he continues to enjoy the¬†four-day weekend. ¬†And we’re enjoying his company. ¬†Today, I’m recapping our Atlanta trip. ¬†After our unexpected hospital visit, and rain all week, we finally saw sunshine. ¬†I didn’t know I missed sunshine until visiting GA. ¬†There was so much rain. ¬†Buckets and buckets. ¬†Our last six days in GA were glorious ūüėČ

Beware, this post is picture heavy ūüôā

Our first day of sunshine and we broke out the sprinkler and the “Nana sprinkler”. ¬†The kids loved her spraying them!

Waiting to see their cousin. ¬†Two very excited little kids! ¬†And we’re all excited to have her staying with us for a few weeks this summer.

Going to the Atlanta Zoo was a blast.  I loved how the animals were close to each other.  Yet the animals still had plenty of room to roam.   The kids loved the kid friendly map.

I could have stayed and watched the baby turtles all day.  So cute!

They had to climb on the gorilla. ¬†As we were walking away from it, we saw a “do not climb” sign. ¬†Oops! It was way in the back away from it, they should move it to the front ūüėČ

My little birdies

It was a hot day when we went so the pandas were inside.  We still were able to see them, but they were hot and not moving around much.

Brushing the goats. ¬†Xander’s favorite part was when one of the goats decided to poop ūüėČ

The kiddie zone was fun. ¬†Xander conquered this climbing structure three times. ¬†Jayla did it once and Sterling tried, but couldn’t make it up.

Sterling’s favorite ride.

I love this picture.  Jayla had the idea to jump up when I was ready to take the picture because I wanted all three of them in the pictures.

We started our summer review.  I bought packets from The Moffatt Girls.  We love them!

We went to the pool twice. ¬†The first day Sterling was a punk and didn’t want to get in the water. ¬†She just wanted to play in the fountain and make poses ūüôā

The next day I decided to get in with them. ¬†It took about 30 minutes to get Sterling comfortable. ¬†Then she was back floating all over the whole pool. ¬†After she was comfortable, Xander wanted me to help push him under the water to dive for his toys. ¬†We spent two hours at the pool. ¬†It was a much better day than the day prior. ¬†Is your family spending lots of time at the pool? ¬†I see many trips in our summer ūüėČ

We went to the park one evening

And then to get ice cream

Before heading home Papa wanted a picture of his grands so they obliged

These two are the sweetest ūüėČ

The highlight of our flight was when we boarded. ¬†The flight attendant told them after the flight they could get a picture with the pilots. ¬†They talked about all the fun they had at Nana & Papa’s, and going home to see daddy and Opa!

We’re so excited for this summer. ¬†Minus all the heat of course.
